Registration Authority Officer (RAO)

The Registration Authority Officer manages registration operations for DOE/NNSA classified networks according to the Registration Practice Statement (RPS). Key duties include:Enforcing PKI policies and proceduresHandling token distributionIssuing certificatesUser registrationHardware lifecycle managementTraining trusted rolesAdditional responsibilities cover:User identificationAuthenticationCertificate revocation and restorationKey recoveryRA Officers, designated as trusted roles, specifically approve System and Device certificates. They also support agency Trusted Agents and collaborate with PKI staff, including System Administrators and Security Auditors.
