Power System Engineer

TRC is partnered with a technically elite power engineering group that focuses on the analysis side of the grid—where modeling, studies, and system behavior drive critical decisions. This is a role for engineers who want to get deep into system performance, fault scenarios, and protection coordination without being stuck purely in field execution.The Opportunity: Our client is seeking a Power Systems Study Engineer to perform detailed electrical system analysis for industrial facilities, utilities, and mission-critical environments. You’ll build and analyze system models that directly influence design, safety, and operational decisions.Responsibilities:Perform short circuit, arc flash, and coordination studies using ETAP, SKM, or EasyPowerDevelop and maintain detailed electrical system modelsAnalyze system behavior under fault and contingency scenariosGenerate reports with recommendations for system improvements and complianceSupport relay coordination and protection scheme validationConduct site visits to collect field data and verify system configurationsCollaborate with design engineers and clients on system upgrades and modificationsRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering3–8+ years of power systems analysis experienceProficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPowerStrong understanding of power distribution systems and protective coordinationExperience performing arc flash and short circuit studies (NFPA 70E familiarity)Ability to interpret single-line diagrams and system dataNice to Have:PE license or working toward licensureExperience with utility-scale or large industrial systemsFamiliarity with NERC/IEEE standardsExposure to renewable energy systems or microgridsEOE Statement: TRC is an equal opportunity employer.
