Engineers use modern AI development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining strong engineering judgment, code quality, and architectural discipline. *About the Role* * We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong backend expertise and an early stage startup mindset. * You will build and own production systems using Python and AWS, develop data pipelines, contribute to architecture, work directly with customers, and help shape our technical direction. * The role is approximately 90% backend and 10% frontend, with React experience being valuable. * High performance in this role can lead to a Lead Engineer position within 3 to 6 months. *Key Responsibilities* * Build, deploy, and own production backend systems using Python and AWS. * Design scalable serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and related services. * Develop data pipelines supporting AI powered products and knowledge graph systems. * Make architectural decisions focused on scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability. * Use AI coding tools and agentic workflows to accelerate development while reviewing and validating AI generated code. * Work directly with customers to understand workflows, clarify requirements, and translate problems into effective software solutions. * Mentor engineers and contribute to technical standards and engineering practices. * Support frontend development with React when required. * Own technical problems from concept through production. *Required Qualifications* * 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend focus. * Advanced Python experience in production environments. * Strong AWS experience, particularly Lambda, Step Functions, and serverless architecture. * Demonstrated ownership of production systems from design through deployment. * Experience as a founding engineer or early engineering hire within a B2B SaaS startup. * Previous technical leadership, ownership, or mentoring experience. * Hands on experience with AI coding tools and agentic development workflows. * Strong understanding of software architecture and system design. * Product oriented mindset with the ability to communicate directly with customers and non technical stakeholders. * Ability to work independently in a fast paced startup environment. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. *Preferred Qualifications* * Experience in AI, machine learning, or data focused startups. * Knowledge of knowledge graphs, NLP, data platforms, or data pipelines. * Experience building AI enabled applications. * React or full stack development experience. * Experience working at seed or Series A B2B SaaS companies. * Construction or AEC experience is a plus but not required. *What We Value* * We value engineers who build, own, and solve. * You should be comfortable with ambiguity, making technical decisions, working directly with customers, and taking responsibility for systems end to end. * We also expect engineers to use AI thoughtfully.
