With a nationwide footprint and opportunities for growth across multiple locations and disciplines, SPL is a place where you can build a career while making a real-world impact.We’re seeking a motivated Laboratory Analyst to join our petroleum testing laboratory team in Coppell, TX.In this role, you’ll perform ASTM and API analytical testing on a wide range of hydrocarbon samples, including crude oil, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and lubricants. You will operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, ensure data accuracy within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and contribute to a high-throughput laboratory environment where quality, safety, and turnaround time are critical.What You’ll DoPerform sample preparation and analytical testing on petroleum products (e.g., crude oil, diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, lubricants) in accordance with ASTM, API, and internal SOPsPerform instrument calibration, verification, and routine maintenance to ensure data integrityConduct physical and chemical analyses including (but not limited to) viscosity, flash point, sulfur content, distillation, density/API gravity, and elemental analysisEvaluate results for accuracy, trends, and out-of-specification conditions, escalating issues as neededAccurately record, review, and validate data in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)Support laboratory quality systems by adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), participating in audits, and assisting with investigations and corrective actionsAdhere to all safety protocols, including proper handling of flammable, pressurized, and hazardous materialsAssist with laboratory housekeeping, sample custody, inventory management, and cross-training across test methodsPerform other duties as assignedRequirementsWhat We're Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field required; equivalent hands-on laboratory experience may be considered in lieu of degreeDemonstrated hands-on analytical laboratory experience utilizing instrumentation, preferably within petroleum, fuels, lubricants, or oil & gas testing environmentsFamiliarity with ASTM/API test methods and petroleum quality standards strongly preferredBasic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and general computer applicationsWhat We OfferCompetitive compensationMedical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchEmployer-paid life, AD&D, and disability insurancePaid time off, sick leave, and paid holidaysPaid parental leaveEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Tuition reimbursement and professional development supportWork Schedule & TravelFull-time, onsite positionFlexibility to work outside of scheduled hours, including evenings or weekends, as required to meet operational or workload needsOur Commitment to Diversity & InclusionAt SPL, we believe that a diverse team is a strong team.
