Project Engineer Clay Center, Kansas. Full-time, permanent. On-site role. IntroductionWe are seeking a results-driven and technically skilled Project Engineer to join a high-performing manufacturing team in Clay Center, Kansas. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for leading and executing capital projects, process improvements, and engineering initiatives that support operational excellence and long-term business growth within a manufacturing environment.The Project Engineer will oversee projects from concept through completion, ensuring all initiatives are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and external vendors to implement equipment upgrades, optimize manufacturing processes, and improve plant performance.The successful candidate will combine strong project management capabilities with hands-on engineering expertise and a continuous improvement mindset. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and enjoys managing multiple projects while driving operational efficiencies and supporting plant growth initiatives.Responsibilities Lead and manage capital and process improvement projects from initiation through execution and closeoutDefine project scope, objectives, timelines, and budgets in alignment with business goalsCoordinate cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, quality, and supply chainOversee equipment selection, procurement, installation, and commissioningEnsure projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory standardsTrack project progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholdersIdentify and implement process and equipment improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costsSupport new product introductions and facility layout changesDevelop and maintain project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and technical specificationsManage relationships with external contractors, vendors, and engineering partnersConduct post-project evaluations to ensure performance targets are achievedRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)3–7+ years of experience in project engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environmentStrong project management skills with experience leading capital projectsKnowledge of manufacturing processes (metal fabrication, welding, or ag equipment preferred)Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and resource planningFamiliarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principlesProficiency in Microsoft Office and project management toolsStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyPreferred Qualifications:PMP certification or formal project management trainingExperience with automation or equipment integration projectsCAD or engineering design experienceKnowledge of safety and environmental regulations in manufacturing environmentsWhat We OfferWhy apply through Brunel?
