Job Description**PENDING CONTRACT AWARD**The Engineering Technician II at the Potomac River Test Range (PRTR) will have a foundational understanding of weapon systems. In this role, you will contribute to the successful execution of test operations. This role is ideal for a candidate who excels in documentation, analysis, and team-oriented environments, and who is committed to supporting high-quality testing processes.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupports the execution of Range Operations and Sustainment sub-task missionsWorks cohesively with Government, Military, and other contractor teammates as a team member in a collaborative environmentMaintains test records/logs/dataReviews documentsProvides technical input on current test planning, execution, and reporting activitiesPoints out deviations and providing recommendations for remediationNotes/observes equipment malfunctionsObserves and reports safety hazards to onsite safety personnelApplies scientific skill and knowledge gained from previous technical coursework or experience, on the job training, mentorship and/or individual studyReviews test documentation to assess adequacy, objectives and system test/system checkout procedures with respect to criteria based on appropriate military standardsPrepares Test Incident Reports (TIRs) documenting mission timelineRecords deviations from procedure and equipment failure/anomaliesPerforms preventive and corrective maintenanceMonitors test events to assess test conformity with approved test plansProvides updates where discrepancies are observedMaintains logs (written and/or digital) to record equipment failure, data collection problems and deviations from planned proceduresPerforms standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operationsFollows standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignmentsTechnical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion and non-routine work may be reviewed in progressFollows specific instructionsAssembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or partsServices or repairs simple instruments or equipmentConducts a variety of tests using established methodsPrepares test specimensAdjusts and operates equipmentRecords test data and notes deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errorsExtracts engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sourcesProcesses the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometryOther duties as assignedQualificationsRequired Skills and Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent, with some vocational or technical training is desiredThree (3) years of experience performing standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations, following standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignmentsProven technical assembly and troubleshooting skills for standard test equipmentAbility to perform basic instrument repair and maintenance proceduresThorough knowledge of testing procedures and data acquisition techniques relevant to T&EDemonstrated attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data recording, equipment maintenance, and testing procedures within the T&E processCommunication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively and train lower-level technicians, ensuring technical standards are upheld throughout the teamsPreferred Skills and QualificationsMilitary experiencePrior experience working in a T&E environmentInvolvement in testing and troubleshooting military-grade systemsPhysical QualificationsThe work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environmentMust be capable of sitting and entering data on a computer keyboard for extended periods of timeMust be able to view computer monitor for extended periods of timeMust be capable of lifting 25 lbs. unassistedReasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the duties and responsibilitiesTerms of Employment & Eligibility RequirementsMust be a U.S. CitizenMust possess a high school diploma or equivalentMust possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictionsMust pass a pre-employment drug screeningMust be able to successfully complete a background checkMust possess or be able to obtain an interim clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.The above are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel in this position.
