As a public employer, employees participate in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS)./ph3Required Qualifications/h3ulliHS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam./liliMeets one of the following:/liulliCompletion of a Medical Assistant program and has work experience in a Medical Assisting or acute patient care capacity, which includes school-sponsored externships./liliCompletion of a Medical Assisting-comparable military educational program for medics/hospital corpsman with an honorable discharge (if applicable)./li/ulliCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtains within 90 days of hire./liliKnowledge of basic medical procedures and medical terminology./liliPossesses critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision./liliAbility to work in a stressful environment and exercise sound judgment, as well as organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment with multiple providers./liliAble to work in assigned area(s) and any other clinic based on operational needs./li/ulh3Preferred Qualifications/h3ulli6 months of clerical experience and experience related to patient care./liliActive certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT)./liliPossesses one of the following:/liulli1 year of work experience in medical billing, patient registration, and/or patient scheduling./liliEducation related to medical billing, patient registration, and/or patient scheduling from an accredited institution./liliPossess a current certification as a Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) from the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM)./liliExperience calculating proper dosage and administering specific medications under the direction of the provider, particularly pediatric immunizations, and converting across measurement systems./liliExperience performing point of care testing, CLIA waived testing, wound care, dressing changes, specimen collection, and phlebotomy./liliExperience assisting with various procedures and tests, such as pulmonary function tests./liliExperience with Epic In-Basket management/liliFor ENT, Ortho, and Surgery Clinics: Experience assisting with external fixator removal, flex sigmoidoscopy, hemorrhoid banding, collars, cast removal, incision drainage, cystoscopy set up and clean up, thyroid fine needle aspiration biopsy, reductions, and splint placement./li/ul/ulh3Physical Requirements/h3ulliMay sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day./liliMay need to sit or stand for extended periods./liliSee in the normal visual range with or without correction./liliHear in the normal audio range with or without correction./liliAbility to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance./liliAbility to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance./liliRequires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids./liliRequires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products./li/ul/div
