Construction Materials Laboratory Technician
Chicago Testing Laboratory, Inc. was formed in 1912 to provide consulting engineering and construction materials testing and inspection services to municipalities, government agencies and private clients. We are seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician in our Warrenville Illinois location. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Responsible for performing laboratory testing procedures accurately and efficiently for aggregate, soils, HMA, liquids, and concrete per governing test standards. Assist with proficiency sample testing, round robin sample testing, and laboratory audits/inspections. Work on individual or team laboratory projects which require following specific task directions, budgeted hours, and reporting requirements.Responsible for correctly logging samples, recording results from tests, and checking results for correct calculations. Responsible for following the procedures for calibration and maintenance as it relates to standards. Understand and follow maintenance guidelines for equipment. Perform routine checks on equipment. Assist with repair as needed. Complete laboratory cleaning daily including laboratory equipment, parts, countertops, floors, etc.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent2-3 years in the materials testing industry or similar preferred, not required*ACI, soils, and/or IDOT QC/QA Certifications in HMA, PCC and Aggregate preferred, not required*Knowledge of construction technology, construction testing methods and equipment helpfulProficient in Microsoft Office Suite Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyAble to problem solve and ask pertinent questionsAbility to lift 50 lbs.This position is non-exempt hourly, and the starting rate is based on experience and certifications.Chicago Testing Laboratory is an Equal Opportunity Employer with core values of Leadership, Integrity, Vision, and Expertise.*Internal training provided
