Pro-Tech is looking for highly talented saw operators to join our dynamic team. We’re seeking a hardworking professional who likes meeting challenges and surpassing customer expectations. Your chief responsibilities will include executing daily work instructions, communicating variances of plans and being a functioning team member while maintaining acceptable quality and safety.
To excel in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of freight carriers, possess forklift certification, understand shipping process and be willing to learn Pro-Tech part numbers and be able to meet quality expectations. The successful candidate will also have outstanding attention to detail and maintain all safety processes.
Responsibilities:
Machine Setup & Operation: Configure industrial saws (band saws, cold saws, or circular saws) based on job specifications. This includes installing the correct blades for specific metals, such as aluminum, steel, or brass, and setting blade tension, feed rates, and cutting speeds.
Precision Cutting: Execute cuts according to blueprints, work orders, or technical drawings. Operators must account for material thickness and specific angles (mitering) as required by the customer.
Quality Inspection: Verify the accuracy of finished workpieces using precision tools like digital calipers, micrometers, and tape measures. They are responsible for ensuring cuts are burr-free and within tight tolerances.
Material Handling: Pull raw stock (bars, tubes, or sheets) from inventory and stage it for cutting. This often involves operating heavy equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts to move heavy metal loads.
Maintenance & Safety:
Routine Maintenance: Perform basic upkeep such as cleaning chips from collection systems, replenishing lubrication/coolant fluids, and identifying worn components for replacement.
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA safety standards, including the use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and safety glasses. Operators must also monitor machine malfunctions to prevent workplace hazards.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Crane and hoist certification.
Kanban Inventory management experience.
Inventory & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of material usage, cut quantities, and remnants. This includes labeling cut materials with identifying data for the next production step.
Workflow Coordination: Work with managers to meet production deadlines and manage scrap disposal.
