Postdoctoral Associate

We have a Postdoc Associate position available immediately to develop photonic integrated circuits (PICs) based on silicon nitride and lithium niobate on insulator hybrid platform, which is the enabling technology for various applications in both classical and quantum regime.Qualifications:• Demonstrated excellence in PIC design with proficiency in Lumerical (or equivalent) is required.• Experience in PIC tape-out is required.• Proficiency in COMSOL (or equivalent), Luceda (or equivalent), and Python is advantageous.About Ultrafast Photonics Research Group:We study novel ultrafast nonlinear dynamics in photonic structures and incorporate the dynamics to enhance the device performances with focuses on sensing and imaging applications. We are interested in functional integration of photonic devices with microfluidic and 2D materials to broaden the scope of chip-scale sensing and imaging. We are part of the NSF Quantum Systems through Entangled Science and Engineering (Q-SEnSE) center, working on quantum-enhanced photonic sensors.About Dr. Shu-Wei Huang:Dr. Shu-Wei Huang received his B.S. degree from National Taiwan University and the Ph.D. degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, both in Electrical Engineering. In 2017, Dr. Huang joined the faculty at the University of Colorado Boulder as an assistant professor in Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering. In 2019, he became one of the founding faculty members of the Biomedical Engineering program. Dr. Huang is a senior member of the Optical Society of America (OSA) and the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE). He has published >80 peer-reviewed articles in top journals, including Nature, Nature Photonics, Physical Review Letters, Optica, Science Advances, Light: Science & Applications, Nature Communications, etc. He is a recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Jin-Au Kong Outstanding Doctoral Thesis, Air Force Office of Scientific Research Young Investigator Award, Burroughs Wellcome Fund Collaborative Research Travel Award, National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Award, National Institute of Health Trailblazer Award, National Institute of Health Katz Award, and Holland Outstanding Faculty Researcher Award. He is the associate editor of Optics Letters.
