Private Equity Director
A leading private investment firm focused on private credit and leveraged buyout strategies is seeking a Director to join its investment team. This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced investor to take full ownership of transactions and play a critical role in driving investment performance across the portfolio.Role OverviewThe Director will serve as the primary deal lead, overseeing transactions from initial diligence through execution and ongoing portfolio management. This individual will act as the "quarterback" on investments, coordinating internal and external stakeholders and ensuring disciplined underwriting, structuring, and post-close oversight throughout the full investment lifecycle. This role offers significant responsibility, direct exposure to senior decision-makers, and the opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping investment outcomes within a collaborative, high-performing investment team. Selby Jennings has been exclusively retained to conduct this search.Key ResponsibilitiesLead investments from initial review and diligence through closing and active portfolio management ("cradle to grave")Own financial modeling, valuation, and credit analysis for LBO and private credit transactionsManage third-party advisors and diligence workstreamsStructure, negotiate, and execute transaction termsPresent investment recommendations to senior leadership and investment committeesMonitor portfolio company performance during the hold period and support value-creation initiativesMentor junior investment professionals and contribute to overall team developmentQualifications10-15 years of experience in private equity, leveraged buyouts, and/or private creditStrong LBO experience is required or highly preferredBackground in corporate private equity, leveraged finance, or credit investingDemonstrated ability to lead transactions independently from start to finishExposure to multiple sectors is a strong plusExcellent analytical, communication, and execution skills
