High School Equivalency/GED Instructor (Accelerated Program) Summary: As an HSE Instructor for our Accelerated Program, you will utilize assessment scores to identify students ready to progress quickly through the HSE program. You will teach adult learners in-person and online, covering high school level reading, math, writing, social studies, and science, and provide test-taking strategies to help them complete their HiSET/GED exams to earn their high school equivalency diploma. Responsibilities: Utilizes student assessment scores to identify candidates for the HSE Accelerated Program and develop personalized plans for each eligible student Manages, inputs, and updates all student data for the HSE Accelerated Program Delivers and oversees the instruction and curriculum for program areas assigned by the Program Director Utilizes the 12-week curriculum to prepare and gather relevant HSE materials to review with students for instruction and tutoring Provides class coverage as a substitute, when needed Schedules and holds one-on-one and/or small group tutoring sessions (in-person and online) Communicates all program updates and student matters with supervisor Meets monthly with all instructors for training and collaboration Meets monthly with Program Director (direct supervisor) Assigns online practice to students and monitors progress in online programs Records daily attendance Skills in: Microsoft Office: Outlook; Word; Excel; PowerPoint Computer Literacy: Windows; use of internet; proficient typing skills and data management Effective communication and listening skills Attention to detail Tutoring adult learners Ability to: Work with individuals of diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and personalities Work with minimal support and supervision Facilitate one-on-one tutoring sessions for high school equivalency test prep Analyze, input, and evaluate data Effectively communicate fluently in English – verbal and written (Bilingual preferred) Demonstrate strong organizational skills Ability to utilize and troubleshoot classroom technology Ability to maintain the program: reports, record keeping, etc. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or associate degree with 1+ year of tutoring/teaching experience. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must be willing to work at other local sites. Fluent in English is required. Bilingual preferred.
