Washington St., Phoenix, AZ 85007 Closing Date: September 25, 2026 @ 4:00 PM Position Overview The State of Arizona – AZDES is seeking an Applications Developer specializing in SQL, .NET, and AI Agent Development. The role will focus on designing, developing, and optimizing Azure SQL databases, supporting C#/.NET applications and Azure App Services, troubleshooting database performance, and building and maintaining AI agents. The developer will also contribute to scalable data solutions, mentor junior developers, and utilize modern AI-driven development practices. Required Skills 8+ years of SQL, web development, and analysis experience or equivalent experience. Strong SQL Server / Azure SQL experience. Strong .NET / C# development experience. Hands-on experience building AI agents — must be clearly demonstrated on the resume. Experience with Azure App Services and C#/.NET applications. Advanced SQL query writing and optimization. Experience with stored procedures, indexing, triggers, and database performance optimization. Strong software development, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Experience with RESTful APIs. Bachelor's degree plus required experience, or equivalent experience. Preferred Skills Microsoft OpenAI / OpenAI frameworks Python scripting Agile methodology Azure DevOps AI-driven development using Copilot / Claude Data warehousing and ETL Data analysis and reporting Vibe coding Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize complex Azure SQL databases. Lead database development and optimization initiatives. Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues. Develop and maintain C#/.NET applications hosted on Azure App Services. Build, deploy, and maintain autonomous and multi-agent AI systems. Develop AI agents capable of reasoning, planning, executing tasks, and interacting with other systems and users. Implement prompt engineering and simple RAG pipelines. Develop self-correcting, stateful, and tool-using AI agents. Apply advanced SQL techniques, indexing, stored procedure optimization, and database best practices. Participate in design, coding, testing, debugging, and deployment activities. Work with multiple programming languages, databases, development platforms, and AI-driven development tools. Interpret and analyze test results and maintain testing environments. Prepare technical documentation. Mentor junior developers and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, APIs, programming languages, and AI tools.
