Director of Data Governance
We are looking for a strategic yet hands-on Director of Data Governance to build and lead an enterprise-wide data governance program.This role is ideal for someone who can design the framework, establish the standards, and work across the organization to turn data into a trusted strategic asset. The right person will be equally comfortable shaping governance strategy and rolling up their sleeves to implement the policies, processes, and tools that make it work. What You’ll DoDevelop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with organizational goals, AI readiness, and regulatory requirementsEstablish governance frameworks, policies, standards, and processes that strengthen data integrity, access, and complianceLead enterprise-wide efforts around data stewardship, data quality, and lifecycle managementSelect and implement governance tools and platforms such as data cataloging, stewardship, and lineage solutionsDefine and operationalize data stewardship models across the organizationOversee data quality initiatives, including monitoring, remediation, KPI development, and reportingPartner with IT, legal, compliance, and business stakeholders to align governance with technology and regulatory needsBuild awareness and training programs to strengthen adoption of data governance best practicesMeasure governance effectiveness and drive continuous improvementServe as a trusted advisor to leadership on data governance and data management priorities What We’re Looking For7+ years of leadership experience in data governance, data management, or related areasStrong understanding of governance frameworks, methodologies, and best practicesProven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive changeExperience with enterprise policy development, writing, and implementationStrong project management and execution skillsExcellent analytical, communication, and relationship-building abilities Preferred BackgroundMaster’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Business Administration, Public Policy/Administration, or a related fieldExperience operationalizing governance frameworks and leading data quality initiativesFamiliarity with data governance platforms, data warehousing, and ETL processesExperience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BIKnowledge of systems such as SIS, LMS, and CRM platformsUnderstanding of data architecture, data modeling, and database technologiesHours: 40 Hours per weekTerm: 12 Months +Location: Greater St. Louis Area,Workplace type: 3 Days in Office / Hybrid
