Temporary Services Electrician (Shipyard)Temporary Services Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of temporary electrical power systems aboard vessels and throughout shipyard facilities. This role supports critical shipboard operations by ensuring safe and reliable temporary electrical services in accordance with NAVSEA, OSHA, and shipyard requirements. Assignments are project-based and may continue based on performance and contract demand.ResponsibilitiesInstall, maintain, and remove temporary electrical power systems, cabling, panels, generators, and related equipment aboard vessels and on piersTroubleshoot, test, and repair temporary service electrical systems using volt-ohm meters, meggers, amp meters, and other diagnostic equipmentRead and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and work packages to complete installations and repairsPerform circuit analysis, fault identification, and corrective actions on temporary electrical systemsAssist with the setup and maintenance of temporary generators, power modules, and distribution systemsEnsure temporary electrical services comply with NAVSEA Standard Items, shipyard requirements, and project specificationsSupport testing, inspections, and condition reporting related to temporary service installationsTrain and assist junior electricians as required based on experience levelRequirementsMinimum 5 years of shipyard, marine, industrial, or commercial electrical experienceExperience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting temporary electrical service systemsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawingsKnowledge of electrical safety practices, OSHA standards, and marine electrical work environmentsExperience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipmentAbility to work aboard vessels, in tanks, voids, cofferdams, and elevated locationsCurrent WAF training or ability to obtain required shipyard certificationsAbility to obtain or maintain Rapid Gate, DBIDS, or other site access credentials as requiredPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting Navy vessel repair or NAVSEA projectsKnowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items 009-08, 009-28, and 009-74OSHA 10 MaritimeExperience with temporary service generators and power distribution systemsExperience leading or training junior electriciansAdditional InformationWork is performed aboard vessels, in dry docks, and in industrial shipyard environments supporting Navy and commercial repair operations. Duties may involve confined or elevated spaces and active production areas. Exposure to industrial noise and environmental conditions is expected. PPE is required in accordance with site safety policies, and respiratory protection may be required based on task or location. Work schedules may include overtime, nights, weekends, and variable shifts based on production needs.
