The future of defense will be decided by those who field intelligent machines at scale. At Scout AI, we’re developing Fury, the first robotic foundation model for defense, to give U.S. forces overwhelming, adaptable, and autonomous power across every domain. Fury enables human operators to command fleets of robots through natural language, and empowers those machines to sense, decide, and act together as one. This mission will ask everything of us: urgency, precision, and relentless work. The RoleWe’re looking for a Full-Stack Software Generalist who enjoys working across the entire product surface: backend systems, frontend experiences, infrastructure, and AI-powered features. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage environments and likes shipping end-to-end features rather than owning just one narrow area. You’ll work closely with product, design, and research to build reliable, scalable, and user-focused software. Your work will run on robots in complex, adversarial environments. We’re a startup. You’ll be moving fast, context-switching daily, and helping define the culture and process as we go. This is a rare opportunity to come in early and architect the future of defense.ResponsibilitiesBuild and ship full-stack features from concept to productionDesign and implement scalable backend services and APIsDevelop intuitive, high-performance frontend applicationsIntegrate AI/ML capabilities into real user workflowsImprove system architecture, reliability, and developer experienceWork directly with users and stakeholders to refine product directionContribute to infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and monitoringHelp shape engineering culture, processes, and technical standardsQualifications2-5 years of full-stack engineering experience (startup or high-ownership environment preferred)Proficiency with modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, or similar)Experience building backend systems (Node.js, Python, Go, or similar)Solid understanding of databases, APIs, and distributed systemsExperience shipping production software end-to-endComfortable working across unfamiliar parts of the stackMust be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilitiesWhy Join ScoutWork on the world’s most important frontier, ensuring U.S. and allied dominance in the age of intelligent machinesBe a core part of a team building the first defense-specific robotic foundation modelCollaborate with some of the top engineers in autonomy, AI, and national securitySee your work deployed on real systemsHelp define the future of intelligent defense systemsBacked by Draper Associates, Booz Allen Ventures, and other top investorsBenefitsCompetitive compensation package including base salary and bonusMeaningful equityPremium medical, dental, and vision plans with $0 paycheck contributionCompetitive PTO and company holiday calendarCatered lunch daily and fully stocked kitchenUnlimited AI tokensEV chargingRelocation assistance (depending on role eligibility)The stated salary range below represents an estimated base pay only and reflects consideration of multiple compensation factors.
