POSITION SUMMARY
The Network Administrator is primarily responsible for the design, implementation, management, and support of BMH's network infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of networks, and cloud environments. The Network Administrator must possess strong technical expertise as well as a proactive approach to problem-solving, helping to drive the organization's IT strategy forward.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Primary Responsibilities
Drive the Planning, design, and implementation of Cisco network solutions including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless, and other networking devices.
Manage Barracuda suite of products including web filter, archiver, impersonation protection, forensics and backup
Monitor and optimize network infrastructure performance, troubleshoot network problems, and ensure maximum uptime.
Plan, design and implement for high availability and business continuity
Drive the implementation and maintenance of network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems, to safeguard patient data and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with IT teams and healthcare professionals to ensure network infrastructure meets the needs of clinical operations and administrative functions.
Serve as escalation point and subject matter expert to other IT teams.
Manage network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and asset inventories.
Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in networking and healthcare IT.
As Part of the Broader 'Network Admin' Team:
Assist with administering M365 services including Intune, Entra, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, M365 Security
Assist in management and support of VMware vSphere virtualization in an iSCSI shared storage environment
Assist in management of telephony systems
Assist in management of network operating systems (Windows Server)
Play an active and collaborative role as a member of Network Admin Team
Participate on On-Call rotation
DEPARTMENT SCOPE OF SERVICE
The Information Services (IS) department provides support to clinical, administrative, physician office and community interests through the design, implementation, maintenance and management of an array of software, hardware, and infrastructure systems.
Requirements
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other relevant study. Combinations of experience, certifications and education will be considered.
EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS:
Minimum 10 years experience in an enterprise network environment
Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing Cisco wired and wireless networks preferably in a healthcare environment.
Solid understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VoIP, RADIUS, Routing, iSCSI and VLANs.
Experience with various network operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix)
Experience with network security protocols and compliance requirements, especially HIPAA.
Experience with connectivity to and security associated with Cloud Environments, primarily Microsoft 365.
Experience with Pulse Secure VPN appliances.
Experience with network analysis tools such as WireShark.
Exposure to designing, deploying and administering virtualization clusters (VMware) in a shared storage environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with healthcare professionals and IT teams.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S):
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred; Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification preferred.

Compensation Disclosure in Accordance with Vermont Act 155
In compliance with Vermont Act 155, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides the compensation range for this position in good faith. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
