Technical Sales Engineer

Technical Sales EngineeringWe are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to support the growth of our Aviation Hangar Door product line. This role is primarily responsible for developing comprehensive cost models, preparing financially sound quotations, configuring engineered door solutions, and estimating installation and labor requirements, with extensive use of Excel‑based pricing tools, our ERP system and coordination with sales, engineering and operations team members.The Technical Sales Engineer serves as the technical, financial, and installation‑cost backbone of the quoting process, translating customer requirements into accurately configured, well‑documented aviation door solutions while ensuring pricing integrity, margin discipline, and clear commercial and installation assumptions.Compensation & BenefitsSalary, Exempt (Annual Salary)Medical, Dental, Vision401(k) with company match3 weeks PTO9 paid holidays (typical)Career development and tuition assistanceDiverse, inclusive, and welcoming culturePrimary Duties And ResponsibilitiesReview, understand, and interpret customer‑supplied architectural drawings, structural drawings, specifications, and site information to determine detailed product, installation, and labor scopeGenerate formal budgets and quotations, including material costs, installation and labor estimates, cost breakdowns, contribution margin analysis, scope descriptions, inclusions, exclusions, and commercial assumptionsDevelop, maintain, and analyze cost models using Excel and ERP‑based tools, incorporating material, labor, equipment, freight, overhead, market forecasts and other risk factors to support accurate and competitive quotationsEstimate installation labor requirements, including labor requirements, equipment needs, travel, site conditions, and schedule constraintsApply accounting and cost‑analysis principles to validate pricing logic, assess installation and labor risk, and identify margin exposure or optimization opportunitiesCollaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, Installation Services, Finance, and Operations to validate configurations, pricing accuracy, labor assumptions, manufacturability, and lead timesProvide technical, commercial, and installation‑related support to Sales Teams and customers throughout the application and quoting process, including value engineering, cost optimization, and labor‑reduction recommendationsEnsure clear and complete documentation of product scope, installation scope, assumptions, configurations, and pricing logic to support clean handoff to order execution, project management, and installation teamsCreate and maintain application‑level documentation such as specifications, product data sheets, configuration guidelines, and standard installation and labor assumptionsSupport R&D and product development initiatives by contributing application knowledge, cost modeling insight, installation feedback, and market‑driven inputRequired QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experiencePreferred 5+ years of experience in applications engineering, estimating, pricing, or technical sales supportStrong proficiency in Excel, including pricing models, cost analysis, and scenario evaluationExperience working within an ERP system for quoting, configuration, costing, or order processingCustomer‑facing experience with strong verbal and written communication skillsProven analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple quotes and priorities in a fast‑paced environmentAdditional Skills / AttributesStrong attention to detail and ownership of work outputAbility to work independently while collaborating cross‑functionallyExperience supporting engineered‑to‑order or custom products is a plusFamiliarity with aviation, large door systems, complex machinery or building products preferredCADD or FEA experience is a plus but not requiredEqual Employment OpportunityOur company provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.Please no third‑party candidates or phone calls.
