Job Description Job Opportunity Ponder has the immediate opening of Class A Driver out of ourBenicia, Californiaoffice. Our drivers operate various trucks and truck/trailer equipment including vacuum tank equipment, roll-off equipment, dry vans, box trucks, stake bed trucks, flat bed trailers, hydro excavation equipment, air movers (Guzzler Trucks), Vacuum/Jetter combo trucks & equipment, winch trucks and all equipment qualified to operate. Performs loading, unloading, and transportation of non-hazardous and hazardous waste following all safety rules and regulations. Responsibilities Mentors and provides training for new hire drivers, informs safety department and operations department on the development of trainees and additional training needs. Performs safety and equipment inspections. Completes and assists other drivers with completing and/or understanding paperwork, pre and post trip, logistics, SOPs, driver logs, DVIRs, Safety Forms, inspection forms, and all other driver’s duties and responsibilities. Proficient in DOT regulations including placarding and load segregation. Proficient in completing Shipping Documentations including Bill of Ladings, Non-Hazardous and Hazardous Manifests. Operate trucks with a capacity up to and greater than 26,000 lbs. with/without various sized trailer. Operate vehicle while transporting non-hazardous or hazardous waste material. Operate Standard Truck & Trailer, hook up/disconnect, pull & back up trailers. Properly secure and remove trailers from vehicle. Maintain vehicle at all times. Load/unload materials from trailers, properly securing loads as necessary. Maintain full compliance with DOT, daily ELD logs, and vehicle inspection reports. Prepare and submits Company’s paperwork on a daily basis including IFTA packets, route sheets, fuel receipts, hotel receipts, expense reports with receipts, work orders, shipping paperwork, weight certifications, bin inspection sheets, vacuum truck inventory sheets, JSA, safety forms and any job related paperwork assuring accuracy and in a timely manner. Completing and submitting accurately filled out Daily Transportation Work Orders which include additional details not limited to Standby time due to delays, Downtime due to equipment breakdown, Bin #’s, Hourly or site to site Details of the Day’s Work Assist field crews on site, when necessary. Qualifications : Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required 3+ years of commercial driving experience in transportation, hazardous waste, or industrial services Experience with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and basic digital workflows Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle operation Experience operating vacuum trucks, roll-offs, and heavy equipment preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Tanker, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), and Double/Triple Trailer endorsements. Clean MVR and ability to meet DOT and company insurance standards Must be able to drive intra state (State to State). 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification with ongoing 8-hour annual refresher training. TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) TWIC, HAZWOPPER and other endorsements are needed but not required for consideration of employment. They are necessary for completion within employment probation period.
