Manufacturing Associate IV
Job Purpose Statement:
Manufacturing Associate IV position is a position that can be assigned to any of the roles of the below listed jobs at the manufacturing plant. The primary function of this position is for the employee to rotate between different jobs as business needs dictates- Calendar Relief Operator, Extruder Relief Operator and Mixer Relief Operator.
Required training will be given before being placed in a role.
Summary of Responsibility for each relief role:
Calendar Relief Operator
The primary function of this position is to oversee the supplying of fabric to upper and lower calendars. Oversees rubber supply to calendars.
Splice product fabric to leader fabric.
Check calendar rolls and rubber supply.
Turn on controls and roller heaters.
Turn on accumulator pressure pumps. When calendar is ready in all respects, the fabric is advanced through the machine and mated with a top and bottom sheet of rubber. Product samples are taken and thickness measured. Machine continues to be sppeded up to production speed as long as thickness remains within limits.
Will check the computer specs (weight, length, etc. that is needed).
Will check the skids of rubber behind each mill machine.
Will go to storage racks of rubber if he needs more or different stock.
Will make sure he has enough rubber for the mill machines. Will also help to do tread mill machine changes.
Will perform change over procedures.
Will perform necessary functions with the rubber and the mill machine if there is a breakdown.
Must be able to meet the Ergonomic as well as the Physical Base Score for this position.
Stand 50 %; Walk 50%
Lift/Carry 50 lbs. to 75 lbs.
Push/pull 35 lbs. Static push/pull 10 lbs.
Pinch minimum 6 lbs.
Grasp minimum 45 lbs.
Full range of motion required: Cervical, Shoulders, Elbows, Wrist, Fingers, Hands, Knees, and Feet.
Working Conditions: 100 % Inside, Moderate Noise, Moving Mechanical Parts, Height, Odors, Dust, Handrails, Protrusions, and Narrow Access.
Any lifting over 70 lbs. must be completed with assistance, i.e. mechanical or individual.
Exerting in excess of 70 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. frequently and/or in excess of 30 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
Extruder Relief Operator
The major function of this position is to direct each tread schedule and provide proper installation and coordination of controlling the extrusion of the tread.
Will check computer for tolerance, weight per foot and measurements needed for the run.
Will go to conveyor line and measure and check the tread coming by.
Will control conveyor speed in accord with specification.
Will mark tread on convey or if measurements are correct.
Will check to see that cement is getting on the bottom of tread.
Will log
- catalog number, time, and actual cuts made on the run.
Will log how many pieces of tread are booked.
Will continually check for adjustments during the run.
Must be able to meet the Ergonomic as well as the Physical Base Score for this position.

Push/pull 15 lbs.
Pinch minimum 6 lbs.
Grasp minimum 25 lbs.

Exerting from 35 lbs to 49 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
Mixer Relief Operator
The primary function of this position is to oversee the assembly of ingredients and the feeding of ingredients into the mixing mill.
Previews production schedule.
Instructs loaders as to what is going to be required.
Oversees the assembly and feeding of all ingredients.
Oversees supplying mixing mill batch by batch.
Conducts all Quality tests, monitors quality and adjusts ingredients to maintain required product standards.
Must be able to meet the Ergonomic as well as the Physical Base Score for this position.
Must have the capacity to perform all aspects of this Category I, Very Light Work
Stand 95%; Walk 5%
Lift/Carry 10 lbs.
Push/pull 50 lbs. Static 30 lbs.
Pinch minimum 6 lbs.
Grasp minimum 25 lbs.
Full range of motion required: Shoulders, Elbows, Wrist, Lumbosacral Spine
Job Function Cycles (repetitions): 20-40 batches per hour, 160-320 per day.
Working Conditions: 100 % Inside, Moderate Noise, Slight Vibrations, Moving Mechanical Parts, Chemicals, Height, Odors, Dust, Steps, Handrails, Protrusions and Narrow Access
Exerting up to 1 lbs. to 19 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 15 lbs. of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
High School diploma or GED required
Must read, write and communicate in English as it relates to this position & to safety regulations.
Must complete training program and meet company performance standards for the job.
Must agree to wear proper clothes and shoes approved for this job.
Will be trained for this position in-house.
