The DISCOVER Center delivers system-wide, comprehensive, end-to-end support for investigator-initiated research, guiding projects from initial concept and protocol development through study execution, analysis, dissemination, and publication.Oversees a team of clinical research scientists and statisticians and is responsible for ensuring high-quality, efficient, and scientifically rigorous support services for employees, investigators, residents, and fellows. Promotes the DISCOVER Center’s mission of advancing well-designed, reproducible, ethically sound research that advances the system’s Health Assurance strategy and improving clinical care outcomes across the continuum of care.Minimum Qualifications Formal Education Required: PhD or MD/DO required Experience and Training Required: Five (5) years of progressive experience in clinical research, translational research, health services research, biostatistics, epidemiology, or a closely related field Two (2) years of experience leading, mentoring, or supervising research professionals, scientists, analysts, or statisticians Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in study design, protocol development, scientific methods, and interpretation of research data Experience supporting investigator-initiated research from concept development through publication Knowledge of IRB processes, human subjects protections, research ethics, and applicable regulatory requirements Experience collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, allied health professionals, residents, fellows, student interns, and administrative leaders Strong written and verbal communication skills, including scientific editing, presentation development, and consultation with investigators Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, establish priorities, and lead work in a service-oriented research support environment Strong project management skills and demonstrated competencies in leadership, management, operations, and communication. Must have a working knowledge of FDA, GCP, HIPAA, and institutional policies, regulations, and requirements. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and to prioritize workloads to meet competing deadlines required. Must be proficient with Microsoft 365 applications and products (e.g., Teams, OneDrive, Planner) Must be proficient and knowledgeable of statistical and data analysis and management applications (e.g., REDCap, SAS, R) Must have a working knowledge and understanding of artificial intelligence applications and ethical use (e.g., generative AIs, large language models, etc.) Experience with Epic electronic health records functionality (e.g., SlicerDicer, Cosmos) Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with patients/customers with the understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity Level of Physical Demands: Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
