Fleet Support Engineer

Join a hands-on fleet support role where you’ll help keep autonomous vehicle operations running smoothly through fast, thoughtful troubleshooting and cross-functional collaboration. This onsite position in San Francisco is a great fit for a technical problem solver who enjoys working with sensor systems, fleet data, and continuous improvement.ResponsibilitiesAct as the first point of contact for urgent sensor-related fleet issues and operational escalationsInvestigate issues using detailed log review and root cause analysis to identify what happened and whyCreate, update, and improve troubleshooting documentation for technicians based on new findings and resolutionsSupport hardware bring-up and validation for sensor components such as LiDAR, radar, and camerasDevelop diagnostic methods that improve troubleshooting efficiency, sensor calibration, and data qualityReview vehicle and fleet data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvementPartner with engineering teams to enhance tooling and strengthen issue detection capabilitiesHelp implement countermeasures that reduce repeat issues across the fleetDefine key data points needed to confirm issue resolution and measure effectivenessCollaborate across teams to improve fleet performance, reliability, and operational uptimeBe available for occasional overtime with advance notice and limited travel within the U.S. as neededSkillsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related fieldAt least 6 years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicle environments with a focus on perception systems and sensorsWorking knowledge of low- and high-voltage circuits and safe troubleshooting practicesFamiliarity with Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS)Ability to understand schematics, electrical diagrams, connector end views, and pinoutsStrong understanding of hardware and software system architecture in an operations settingClear, organized documentation habits and a methodical approach to solving complex problemsAbility to build strong working relationships across technical and operational teamsPass a background checkPreferred SkillsExperience working with electric vehicle technologyExperience supporting vehicle troubleshooting remotelyKnowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostic toolsExperience using Linux and Python for fleet-level data processingExposure to software that interfaces directly with hardwareFamiliarity with networking, TCP, and socket programmingHorizontal is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds are valued.
