As a cafe worker, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages within a correctional facility café or commissary setting while maintaining safety, sanitation, and security standards. This position supports daily food service operations, assists customers, handles stocking and cleaning duties, and follows all facility policies and procedures.Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PMWhat you'll be doing:Prepare and serve coffee, beverages, sandwiches, snacks, and other café itemsOperate cash register or point-of-sale system as applicableMaintain cleanliness and sanitation of café, kitchen, dining, and service areasRestock food, beverages, paper products, and suppliesFollow portion control and food safety guidelinesAssist with food preparation, packaging, and labelingWash dishes, utensils, and food preparation equipmentMonitor inventory levels and notify supervisor of shortagesProvide professional customer service to staff, visitors, and approved individualsFollow all correctional facility security procedures and protocolsMaintain a safe and organized work environmentAssist with opening and closing duties as assignedPerform other duties as assigned by managementWhat we're looking for:Must-haves:Reliable attendance and punctualityStrong customer service skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentBasic food preparation and food handling knowledgeAbility to follow sanitation and safety proceduresTeamwork and communication skillsCash handling or register experience preferredAbility to stand for long periods and lift up to 25-40 poundsExcellent attention to detail and the ability to perform multiple tasks at once.Nice-to-haves:Food Handlers certification preferred.Compensation Range$17.00 per hourOur Benefits:Medical (FT Employees)DentalVisionVoluntary UNUM offering for Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital IndemnityDiscount ProgramCommuter Benefits (Parking and Transit)EAP401kSick TimeHoliday Pay (9 paid holidays)Tuition Reimbursement (FT Employees)Paid Time OffAbout Summit:Focused on serving correctional institutions, Summit ensures that incarcerated people across the United States have access to delicious, healthy food at each meal.
