Managing Attorney – Employment Law Practice Group (Plaintiff-Side)Location: Los Angeles, CA (In-office initially, transitioning to hybrid once department is established)Compensation & Benefits:Base Salary: $175,000 – $275,000 depending on experiencePerformance Bonus: 1–2% of case-based recoveries/collectionsStrong benefits package including health coverage, paid time off, and additional firm benefitsOverview:Our client, a well-established and rapidly growing plaintiff-side litigation firm, is launching a new Employment Law Practice Group and is seeking an experienced Managing Attorney to lead the division from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to build a practice area at the ground floor level within an existing, high-volume litigation environment.The Managing Attorney will have the autonomy to structure and grow the team, including the ability to bring in a paralegal, legal assistant, and additional attorneys as needed. This role is ideal for a seasoned employment litigator who wants leadership responsibility, strategic influence, and the ability to directly shape a new practice group.Key Responsibilities:Build and lead the firm’s new Employment Law Practice Group from inceptionDevelop litigation strategy, case management systems, and best practices for the departmentOversee and actively handle plaintiff-side employment litigation mattersSupervise and mentor attorneys, paralegals, and support staffManage case portfolio including intake, strategy, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparationCollaborate with firm leadership on growth strategy and client developmentRecruit and onboard additional legal team members as the practice expandsEnsure high-quality representation in all employment matters handled by the groupEmployment Law:The ideal candidate will have deep experience in plaintiff-side employment litigation, including:PAGA claimsFEHA litigation (discrimination, harassment, retaliation)Wage and hour class actionsWrongful terminationWorkplace discrimination and harassment mattersComplex and high-value employment disputesQualifications:10–15+ years of experience as an Employment Law attorney (plaintiff-side strongly preferred)Proven track record handling complex employment litigation mattersStrong experience with class actions and/or representative actions (PAGA preferred)Demonstrated leadership experience or readiness to step into a managing attorney roleBased in or strongly connected to the Los Angeles legal marketStrong litigation skills including motion practice, depositions, mediations, and trial preparationAbility and willingness to work in-office initially, with transition to hybrid structure once department is establishedOpportunity Highlights:Build a brand-new practice group within an established litigation firmHigh autonomy and leadership authority from day oneAbility to shape hiring, structure, and case strategyDirect financial upside through case-based bonus structureSignificant growth opportunity as the practice scalesBenefits: The firm offers a strong and competitive benefits package, including health coverage, paid time off, and additional firm-sponsored benefits designed to support long-term growth and retention.
