Referrals Coordinator (Part-Time)
Position Overview:The Referrals Coordinator is the direct scheduling link to all outside referral sources. This position requires quality, advanced scheduling knowledge in order to provide exceptional customer service to any non-SportsMED providers referring their patient. The position requires one to be detail-oriented while possessing extensive knowledge of the precertification, scheduling and billing process within the healthcare industry.Job Duties:Responsible for all aspects of scheduling all externally referred patients including:Reviewing prescription and authorization documentsObtaining all necessary documentation to ensure safe scheduling and efficient billing of orders receivedSolely responsible for entering orders into an electronic medical records (EMR) system, as well as coordinating prior authorization requirements with referring office staff membersAssisting patient through the scheduling process while keeping the referring office informed of scheduling and/or cancellationsGathering relevant patient history, implant documentation and lab results requiredScheduling, rescheduling and canceling appointmentsVerifying physician orders and obtaining necessary patient and insurance informationEntering patient information into an electronic medical records records (EMR) system.Job Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalent required.1 - 2 years' experience in medical or related field strongly preferred but not required.Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures, knowledge of health insurance industry practices and/or scheduling procedures strongly preferred.Experience with EMR systems strongly preferred.Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and communication skillsProficiency of electronic records systems preferred.
