Small Engine Mechanic
Job Summary
The person hired will be responsible for repairing and maintaining the company's small engine equipment. The person is responsible for ensuring that equipment is operating safely, promotes a positive image and is maintained properly. Success in this position is determined by the timely repairs made on equipment, the safety of such equipment, longevity of equipment and the dollar value saved over the long term for all repairs made to equipment.
Responsibilities and Duties
Performing thorough diagnostic evaluations of equipment focusing on safety, optimum performance and aesthetics and schedule repairs accordingly
Repairing equipment
Washing equipment
Sharpening blades
Mower services
General cleaning
Able to work independently
Preventative Maintenance
Fabrication
Equipment reconditioning
Winter Season - 3rd shift mobile/service technician
Ensuring that appropriate inventory numbers are attached to new equipment before its assigned
Stocking parts, materials, etc. to make repair process more efficient and taking advantage of vendor cost breaks when necessary.
Recording maintenance and repair logs for all equipment
Reporting any negligible related damage to field supervisor immediately
Maintaining files on fleet detailing cost of equipment, age, history, etc. to be used to determine if repairs are necessary
To recommend replacement equipment
Hours are flexible
Qualifications and Skills
Driver license with clean driving record
Welding experience preferred (not required)
Must have on Tools required
Able to be productive and efficient while working independently
At least 2 years experience in equipment repair
Must have the ability to diagnose necessary repairs on assigned equipment
Hearing ability to detect warning signals and equipment malfunctions
Ability and temperament to follow directions from supervisors
Working knowledge of grounds maintenance and repair practices
Ability to perform a variety of changing duties as required by assignments
Must be aware of budget restraints for purchases on parts / equipment / tools, etc.
Must have the ability to decide if repair is cost effective or if replacement is more appropriate
Must be organized and efficient
Must be self motivated and have follow up abilities
Must be able and aware to meet deadlines on tasks / requests
Must coordinate and cooperate with field staff on repairs
