Full-Time | Monday–Friday (Weekends/On-Call as Needed)
Changing Options, a 24-hour residential treatment facility serving adults with severe mental illness (primarily thought and mood disorders), seeks a full-time Program Director to lead its dynamic residential and day treatment program. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Director oversees a multidisciplinary team of 30+ staff serving 35+ clients.
This leadership role requires strong behavioral health expertise, administrative oversight, regulatory compliance knowledge, and the ability to maintain full program census while ensuring high-quality, client-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee full agency operations and supervise all managers and staff
Report directly to and keep the Board fully informed
Lead hiring, training, performance management, and staff development
Ensure compliance with Title 22 (CCLD), Title 9 (DHCS), and County standards
Manage census, referrals, intake reviews, placements, retention, and discharges
Monitor budgets, billing, and contract compliance
Review incident reports and conduct internal investigations
Attend licensing audits, county reviews, and investigations
Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and treatment teams
Maintain relationships with clients, families, placement agencies, and community partners
Ensure facility safety, operations, and regulatory adherence
Participate in treatment and administrative meetings
Provide crisis support and be on call as needed
Qualifications
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
Licensed (or license-eligible within 6 months) as LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or Licensed Psychologist in California
Minimum 2 years experience in a mental health residential treatment setting
Experience managing 30+ staff and 35+ clients
Strong knowledge of Title 22 & Title 9 compliance
Experience in program development, budgeting, billing, and evaluation
Strong leadership, communication, and administrative skills
Valid CA Driver’s License and required clearances
