About the Role The Process Engineer II is responsible for the manufacturing activities within the extrusion and IM department including technical leadership, equipment standardization, problem and variance resolution, and continuous improvement projects. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Manufacturing process improvements including product troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Responsible for manufacturing equipment within the extrusion and IM operations. Responsible for customer satisfaction through effective management of the department resources. Provides quality products that are delivered on-time to support customer needs. Leads or assists with customer CAPA’s, ACE submissions, cost reductions, and engineering revision requests. Provides frequent positive feedback to employees related to the technical aspects of the job. Proactively addresses and provides input/solutions to quality or performance problems. Provides input for employee performance evaluations. Identifies opportunities and promote the technical development of employees. Provides pertinent process and equipment training to technical associates in production. Works closely with the Shift Supervisors. Monitors production results and initiates improvements for quality, labor, and machine efficiency, OEE, and productivity. Develops purchase specifications for new or revised equipment. Implements standardization of equipment families and tooling. Leads continuous improvement projects, Coordinates necessary equipment maintenance and upgrades. Assists NPPD in new projects Provides input and assist in executing the production schedule. Searches for ways to reduce scrap and rejects. Monitors production for ways to improve labor efficiency and productivity. Resolves non-conformances and deficiencies by providing corrective and preventive actions to eliminate reoccurrence, Troubleshoots and provides solutions to technical problems with the existing manufacturing systems, equipment, processes, and procedures. Provides a safe, clean work environment by performing LOTO and Stop Audits, assisting in creating and revising safety procedures such as LOTO procedures, and assisting in injury CAPA’s. Monitors performance against established metrics/KPI’s. Creates and helps manage visual management systems. Reviews work orders for manufacturing variances. Coordinates set-up sheets revisions. Continuously works on value and cost improvements of products and services to reduce costs and administrative burden Trains Manufacturing Specialists to train production team members in the use of new equipment, tooling, or process improvements. Works with the customer, production teammates, Quality, NPPD Engineering, material suppliers to analyze root cause of failures that may occur. Additional responsibilities assigned by supervisor. What You Need: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related engineering field with a good understanding of the plastics industry. 5 or more years of experience in an extrusion/injection molding manufacturing environment and thermal plastics. 5 or more years of manufacturing experience preferred. Experienced use of Statistics - (DMAIC, DOE, Cpk), Lean, or other continuous improvement tools. Proven experience with project management, communication and organizational skills required. Strong technical skills with the ability to communicate effectively and accurately. Familiarity with 3D or CAD systems. Effective communications, team building, problem solving and a proven record of increasing profitability of product produced. Knowledge of the technical aspect of production and an understanding of the total business and how departments interact. Proven ability to lead and direct the activities of others successfully. Experience improving manufacturing efficiencies as measured by business metrics. Excellent verbal/written communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Strong communications skills (verbal and written) with ability to create strong relationships. Experienced user of Microsoft Office Word, excel and PowerPoint. Able to create and present information via PowerPoint to management, customers, and colleagues.
