Crate Builder
JOB SUMMARY
This position requires the ability to design and build skids and crates for shipping of products. Skids and crates need to be designed/assembled so that products will be able to be transported cost effectively and arrive in good condition by defining correct dimensions and materials required.
Responsibilities include:
Measuring and cutting materials to the correct size
Working with various types of materials
Using hand tools, machines and power saws accurately
Assembles materials together to make products
Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk and marking gauge
Shape or cuts materials, such as plywood and dimensional lumber, etc. to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines or power saw
Assembles and fastens materials to make framework, using hand tools, screws, nails, glue etc.
Loads and moves materials to area, using hand truck, fork truck or dolly
Additional items as assigned by manager
PRINCIPAL CONTACTS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE COMPANY
This position interacts with shipping personel and other shop personnel.

Prevents problems and accidents from recurring by assessing causes of problem or accidents
Careful in use of material, does not waste materials
Able to use basic hand tools and power tools
May operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school degree or GED is required
Must have 5 or more years of experience
EQUIPMENT USED
This position will use a fork truck and hand held carpentry tools, power saws etc.
WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
This position will be working on a manufacturing floor. Entails climbing ladders, steps, stepping over objects, bending over from the waist, crouching down on knees and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
