ROGERCO, Inc. (ROGERCO) an integrated technology and communications company is seeking a full-time Senior Communications Specialist. The Senior Communications Specialist will play an integral role conceptualizing and developing compelling material - to help our clients tell impactful and cohesive stories. As a critical member of the creative team supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center Code 103 Corporate Communications team in Dahlgren, VA., the Senior Communications Specialist will be required to develop and edit written products including magazine and news articles, press releases and fact sheets that clearly relay key messages, purposes and plans and adhere to requirements for internal and external audiences. The Senior Communications Specialist will also provide editorial guidance to subordinate organizations' communications staff on written news articles in accordance with AP style guidelines. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with superior editorial and fact-checking skills. Candidates must have an active SECRET security clearance.RequirementsResponsibilities:Task, lead, and collaborate with others to create original concepts that result in effective and compelling internal and external communicationWrite clear, concise, grammatically correct copy that is consistent with approved brand, voice and styleProvide editorial expertise in producing catalogs, electronic newsletters and magazine-type publicationsManage administrative requirements and requests for information Proactively create action plans to target the correct audience and use sound editorial judgment to determine where communication gaps exist and how to close themPerform final document quality assurance and quality control reviews on communication products prior to distribution to the public (e.g., press releases, informational brochures, briefings)Consult relevant information sources to obtain and verify background informationDevelop outlines and drafts that meet client requirements and regulationsEdit copy to comply with in-house and AP style guidesPerform other duties as requiredLocal travel may be requiredQualificationsBachelor's degree in English, Journalism, public affairs, or related degree OR a minimum six (6) years of related experience in editing documents working in a military/engineering/technical/research, development, or testing environmentUS CitizenActive Secret ClearanceProven ability to support communication programs and products, media relations programs, community relations, special events, and photography supportExperience in research, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and obtaining release/approval for articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements, including electronic, web based, and hard copy materialProficient in Newport Enterprise Realtime Development Server (NERDS) digital signage, Adobe Creative Cloud Production Premium, Microsoft Office Professional, AVS Video Converter, and screen capture softwareKnowledge of Section 508 compliance standards and how to create products that adhere to these standards Thorough knowledge of AP StyleExceptional writer and copy editorExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong organizational skills, attention to detail and self-motivationAbility to function in a face-paced and deadline-driven environmentAbility to understand highly technical material to disseminate to a wider audienceBenefitsHealth Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)Retirement Plan (401k)Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)Paid Time Off (Vacation & Public Holidays)Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)Short Term & Long Term Disability
