Quality Engineer
A leading supplier of electronic systems for the Commercial and Aerospace/Defense Industry, is looking for a Quality Engineer who is passionate about producing a quality product in order to drive customer satisfaction. We are seeking a solid contributor that will support the development of the Quality team through problem solving and improvement initiatives. The successful incumbent will provide training and champion our Quality Management Systems.EDuties and Responsibilities include the following. Work closely with the engineering team and customers to launch new products and processesDevelop new product inspection plans and checklistsDeveloping new or revised standard processes as required to meet developing customer needs or to cover new product designs or processes.Review and approve pending documentation before release, i.e. drawings, test reportsReview POs and flow down quality requirements to suppliers.Coordinates, reviews and submits First Article Inspection Reports to AS9102.Conduct benchmark studies to determine best practices/designs and future trendsHandles internal and external quality issues and drives timely and effective corrective actionsConduct internal Quality Systems auditsSupport external Quality System auditsSupport Source InspectionOversee calibration of test and measurement equipmentAssist with Quality training requirementsConduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.Collaborate with supplier representatives on quality problems, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and contribute to supplier quality improvement programs.Manage and maintain supplier performance metrics, assessment, and certification programs.Train suppliers to execute specific quality system processes.Review and approve supplier First Article Inspection reports.Ensure that the issues raised by suppliers are addressed in a timely manner.Provide expert technical advice and guidance to management, the production department, and other internal customers on product or process quality matters.Identify and lead process improvement initiativesRequirements:Degree and 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience within highly regulated environmentRelevant bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and three to five years of on-the-job experience as a Quality or Manufacturing Engineer in a manufacturing environment.Proficiency of quality systems and software programsStrong knowledge of root cause and corrective action methodologies Experience with AS9100D or equivalentSolid analytical skillsetLean Manufacturing KnowledgeSolid understanding of blueprints & bill of materials (including GD&T)Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency (including Visio), competence at writing macros preferredAttendance/Punctuality -This is not a remote positionSafety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Uses equipment and materials properly
