Must Possess and Instructor Certification In EMS Position Overview The Director works directly with students to ensure National EMS Institute's (NEMSI) written NREMT pass rate increases to a percentage set by the management team of NEMSI. This position provides academic leadership for EMS training and to the NREMT Bridge Program effectively managing programs of learning, resources, including full time, part-time and per-diem personnel in relation to the Blended learning courses. This individual promotes NEI’s mission by providing effective management and supervision of the EMS programs, instruction, assessment, faculty training, and professional development. This position assists the BLS Director in instructional leadership in all phases of the Emergency Medical Services Program and acts as a liaison between the communities of interest and the program. The Director works with the BLS Director to selection of textbooks, writing syllabi, and curricular changes pertaining to the program. Required Qualifications Certification as an National Registered Emergency Medical Technician. Minimum of three years of administrative and supervisory experience. Minimum of three years of documented full-time teaching experience. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications. Be a licensed Emergency Medical Technician in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Be a certified EMS Instructor/Coordinator in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Have three years experience as an Emergency Medical Technician with a progressive and active EMS Provider. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated innovation within the field of education and/or technology. Familiarity with a course management system such as Engrade/Blackboard/Jones and Bartlett. Experience in the Commonwealth’s accreditation process. Demonstrated experience in managing physical and financial resources. Proven ability to manage and motivate professionals as a cohesive team. Proven attention to detail in administrative and budgetary reporting and documentation. Experience in assisting, supervising, and evaluating faculty. Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Experience in assessment of educational programs in adult education. Evidence of thorough knowledge in instructional methodology and techniques. Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi- tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments. Evidence of a willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth. Position Expectations Develop and implement plan to raise NEMSI students NREMT written pass rates and that students take their written exam in a timely manner. Develop strong partnerships with appropriate community stakeholders in support of new program development and improvement. Develop strong partnerships with State, National and private agencies that support emergency and health services education. Demonstrate support for and work closely with the C-Suite of the institution to prepare annual program reviews, to update and assess program improvement plans, to conduct research and surveys, and to produce reports. Reports to each class to conduct student surveys and review them with individual instructors during both the middle and the end of each course. Provide leadership and maintain a climate of open communication and teamwork Provide guidance and leadership in assessment of program and student learning outcomes within the department. Promote quality in learning and instruction by using learning-centered principles in leadership, management, scheduling, and hiring Lead and coordinate the development of learning-centered scheduling for instruction. Participate in the development and administration of the department’s budget; forecast and recommend funds needed for staffing, equipment, and supplies; monitor and recommend approval of expenditures. Assist in coordinating the recruitment, selection, contracting, and evaluation of part-time instructors within the department. Develop and aid in the development, sequencing, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and educational materials used in the department’s programs to raise the pass rates of students. Actively support innovation, distance learning, student-centered learning strategies, and the use of technology within the learning environment. Demonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plans in accordance with the philosophy of a learning-centered institution. Participate in advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the institution in the community. Continue professional development for the improvement of all EMS Instructors to meet the needs of a learning-centered institution. Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.
