Nurse Practitioner Correctional Facility Location: Maximum Security Male Correctional Facility, New York Schedule: Monday Friday 7:00 AM 3:00 PM (8-hour shifts) Coverage: Scheduled (No call) Overtime may be required Security Note: No cell phones permitted on facility grounds Clearance: Background check required Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide comprehensive primary care to adult male inmates in a maximum-security setting. The NP will serve as the primary care provider, managing both acute and chronic medical needs in collaboration with a licensed physician. Key Responsibilities: Conduct physical exams and health assessments for male patients aged 18 and older Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses within scope of practice Develop and implement patient care plans, in consultation with a supervising physician Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to inform care decisions Document clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up recommendations Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments according to NY State regulations Refer patients to specialists or external providers when necessary Requirements: Active New York State Nurse Practitioner license Certification by the New York State Education Department in a Nurse Practitioner specialty Minimum of 1 2 years of relevant clinical experience (preferably in corrections, primary care, or underserved populations) Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills Ability to work independently in a secure facility setting
