CNC Manufacturing Floor LeadPosition SummaryThe CNC Manufacturing Floor Lead oversees high-quality machining output and adherence to safety and production standards. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on CNC machining expertise, including performing complex setup, troubleshooting machining issues, and supporting team of operators and machinist.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Production Oversight Lead, mentor, and support CNC operators and machinists to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.Coordinate daily workflow, machine assignments, and production priorities based on schedule requirements.Train new employees on machine operation, setup procedures, tooling, safety practices, and quality standards.CNC Setup & Technical ExpertisePerform CNC machine setups on mills, lathes, or multi-axis machining centers, including fixturing, tooling, offsets, and program loadingRead and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and CNC programs (G-Code)Troubleshoot machining issues related to tool wear, offsets, programming errors, and material inconsistenciesAssist with process improvements to reduce setup times, improve part quality, and increase throughputQuality & SafetyEnsure all machined parts meet dimensional and visual inspection requirements per customer and internal specificationsConduct in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM experience a plusEnforce all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and compliant shop floorCollaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement initiativesDocumentation & CommunicationMaintain accurate production records, setup sheets, and machine logsProvide feedback to engineering on manufacturability and process optimizationCommunicate shift updates, machine status, and production challenges to managementQualificationsRequired10+ years of CNC machining experience, including proven competency in machine setupAbility to read technical drawings and interpret GD&TStrong knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters, feeds/speeds, and materialsExperience with common CNC controls (Brothers, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, etc.)Demonstrated leadership or lead-operator experiencePreferredExperience in a regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace, defense, energy, etc)Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or continuous improvement methodologiesAbility to edit CNC programs at the machineExperience with scheduling systems or ERP/MES platforms
