Role : Java Backend Engineer / Core Lead - BFSI Cloud & Payments PlatformLocation : Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)ContractRole SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer / Core Lead to design, develop, and lead the implementation of core backend services supporting transaction tracing, investigation workflows, event processing, orchestration, and observability for Banking and Financial Services (BFSI) platforms. This role requires strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Event-Driven Architectures, API development, and transaction processing systems. The candidate will serve as the technical lead for backend engineering, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance platform services.Key ResponsibilitiesBackend Engineering & Application DevelopmentDesign and develop enterprise-grade backend services using Java and Spring Boot.Build scalable REST APIs supporting transaction search, tracing, investigation, and analytics use cases.Develop microservices architecture patterns for distributed transaction processing.Implement business workflows and transaction lifecycle management services.Develop reusable frameworks, libraries, and engineering accelerators.Define backend engineering standards, coding guidelines, and best practices.Support modernization of legacy applications into cloud-native services.BFSI Transaction Processing & Platform ServicesDevelop backend solutions supporting:Payments Platforms (ACH, RTP, FedNow, SWIFT, ISO 20022)ATM Transaction Processing SystemsKey responsibilities include:Develop transaction processing and correlation services.Build state-machine-based workflow and orchestration frameworks.Design event handling, routing, and processing services.Implement transaction tracing and investigation workflows.Create scheduling, notification, and alert management frameworks.Support reconciliation and transaction exception handling capabilities.API, Integration & Service OrchestrationDesign and develop RESTful APIs following OpenAPI standards.Build API Gateway and service orchestration solutions.Integrate backend services with Kafka, Neo4j, NoSQL databases, reporting platforms, and external systems.Develop event-driven integrations using messaging platforms.Enable secure and scalable service-to-service communication.Support third-party system integrations and enterprise service interfaces.Security, Identity & ComplianceImplement secure application development practices.Design authentication and authorization frameworks.Support OAuth2, JWT, SSO, RBAC, and enterprise identity integrations.Build audit logging and transaction audit capabilities.Implement encryption, secrets management, and secure API design principles.Support vulnerability remediation and secure coding practices.Cloud Engineering & DevSecOpsDevelop cloud-ready and containerized backend services.Support CI/CD implementation and deployment automation.Enable Kubernetes-based deployments and platform orchestration.Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and operational observability.Support DevSecOps practices across the software development lifecycle.Performance, Reliability & ObservabilityOptimize backend services for high throughput and low latency.Implement resiliency patterns including retry, circuit breaker, and failover mechanisms.Design monitoring, alerting, and health check frameworks.Support performance tuning and scalability initiatives.Build operational dashboards and observability capabilities.Ensure high availability and reliability of mission-critical services.Leadership & Stakeholder ManagementLead backend engineering activities across project phases.Mentor and guide software engineers and technical contributors.Participate in architecture reviews and design governance forums.Collaborate with solution architects, data engineers, business stakeholders, and operations teams.Support estimation, planning, sprint execution, and technical decision-making.Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.Required QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.7+ years of experience in backend application development and enterprise software engineering.Strong hands-on expertise with:Java 11+Spring BootMicroservices ArchitectureREST APIsKafkaEvent-Driven ArchitectureSQL and NoSQL DatabasesExperience designing and developing high-performance backend systems.Strong understanding of distributed
