Job DescriptionUMS is seeking Water Meter Installers. In this position, you will have the opportunity to participate in an overall Comprehensive Benefits Program (health, dental, vision, life, AD&D), after 30 days of service with the company.Monday - Friday work week, occasionally SaturdaysBase Rate of $20.00/ Fringe Rate $5.52Weekly Paycheck401(k) Retirement AccountNumerous opportunities for growth and advancement, within the companyTHE POSITIONAs a part of our Meter Installation Team, you will be expected to:Remove the existing meters and fit for a new smart meter; sometimes replace a dual check valve and/or curb stop valveMake necessary repairs and replacements; Flush linesInstall and activate new meter & transmitters, using project-specific tools within specifications. Replace meter box lids to meet AMI requirements (sometimes)Verify proper orientation of each new meter & carry out tests to make sure the new meter is workingRetrieve, execute and input data/findings into the tabletTroubleshoot devices as neededComplete various forms, work orders, reports, & correspondenceAssist the field team with meter testing, maintenance, repairs, operating the vacuum and valve trucks, portable pumps and moreVisit customer premises; lay and/or replace sod in yards where repair work has been completed and ensure all property is restoredCommunicate with customers in a clear and professional mannerReceive and return meters appropriately at beginning and end of shiftFollow UMS standards of safety, productivity, and quality of workSupport, train and/or mentor less-experienced installersPerform Quality Assurance audits as neededPerform other related duties as assignedJob Qualifications:Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s LicenseMust have and maintain proof of vehicle insuranceMust pass drug screening and background checkMust have your own vehicle with storage capabilityMust have a mechanical aptitudeMust be okay with heat, dirt, small spaces, etc. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs., bend and stoop repetitively, kneel and work outdoors in all weather conditions and environmentsBasic tools requiredAble to work in a team environment. Have clear written and verbal communication skills. Able to work all required shifts. Achieving standards of safety, productivity, and quality of work.
