ECAD Application Engineer, Design Technologies
Overview
As an ECAD Application Engineer, you configure, customize, and extend ECAD tools to support Amazon’s hardware teams. You will work at the intersection of hardware design and AI, shaping design review and automation workflows. You’ll define best practices, manage tool configurations, and drive adoption of ECAD solutions across engineering groups. This role offers the chance to embed AI/ML capabilities into CAD workflows, enabling smarter design assistance and faster innovation. You will partner with PDM/PLM and CAD teams to deliver reliable engineering tools that scale.

ResponsibilitiesEvaluate new ECAD features and assess their impact for Amazon EE teamsServe as primary technical contact with ECAD tool vendors and influence roadmapsCoordinate issue resolution and advocate for enhancements and bug fixesDrive adoption of ECAD tools through process development and trainingDefine best practices and create requirements, configuration, and design documentsManage and maintain EDA scripts/automations and ECAD tool extensionsCollaborate with PDM/PLM and CAD teams on tools and process automations
Key requirementsBachelor's in Electrical Engineering3+ years of experience with Cadence OrCAD, Allegro3+ years of experience with System Capture3+ years of experience with PDM/PLM systemsStrong documentation and requirements-writing skillsExperience with automation and scripting for ECAD workflows (EDA scripts/automations)Ability to work with external vendors and influence tool roadmapsExcellent communicationCross-functional collaborationTraining and evangelismCadence OrCADAllegroSystem Capture
