Emotional Support Clinician – Summer Camp

Location: Hill Top Preparatory School – Summer Camp ProgramReports to: Camp Clinical DirectorEmployment Type: Seasonal (June 22nd to July 31st)About the Program:Hill Top’s summer programs are designed to empower neurodiverse youth and young adults through experiential learning, skill development, and social connection. As part of the clinical team, you’ll provide emotional support to campers across all three programs (Summer Adventures, Pathways to Independence, and Esports & Technology), helping each camper navigate challenges, build self-regulation skills, and thrive in a safe, inclusive camp community.Position Summary:We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Emotional Support Clinician - Summer Camp to join our team at Hill Top Preparatory School - Summer Camp. In this role, you will provide essential emotional support to neurodiverse campers, particularly during moments of dysregulation, anxiety, or sensory overload. Your presence will help foster a safe and supportive environment that encourages emotional growth, self-regulation, and positive coping strategies. The clinician will work closely with camp staff to ensure camper well-being and assist in creating individualized support plans as needed.Key Responsibilities:Provide direct emotional support to neurodiverse campers during moments of dysregulation, anxiety, sensory overload, or distress, using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.Create and maintain calming environments where campers can feel safe and supported when experiencing emotional or sensory challenges.Monitor camper well-being by observing behavior, identifying early signs of distress, and responding with appropriate support strategies.Collaborate with camp staff to develop and implement individualized emotional regulation plans and coping strategies.Support the overall camp environment by working closely with counselors and other clinicians to ensure consistent emotional support across all activities.Offer guidance to staff on best practices for supporting neurodiverse campers with empathy, respect, and effectiveness.Communicate with parents or guardians as needed to share observations, insights, and updates regarding camper emotional well-being.Maintain accurate, confidential records of emotional support sessions, incidents, and camper progress.Qualifications:Currently working towards or have a Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field (required).Experience working with neurodiverse populations in a therapeutic, educational, or camp setting (strongly preferred).Proficiency in de-escalation techniques and sensory processing strategies.Strong interpersonal and communication skills across age groups and professional roles.Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude.Ability to remain calm, focused, and solution-oriented during emotionally intense situations.Preferred: Prior experience in a clinical or counseling role in outdoor or camp settings.FBI background check, Pennsylvania State Police criminal record check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and fingerprinting is required.Schedule:Camp runs from June 22nd to July 31st.  Hours are Monday through Friday 8:45am to 3:45pm.Potential Training days may be needed prior to camp and will be scheduled in advance.Compensation:This is a seasonal position.
