INSTRUCTOROFPOWERLINETECHNOLOGYPRIMARYDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES1.ProvidesqualityinstructiontostudentsinassignedcoursesinElectricpowerprinciples,Lineworkersafety,Industrystandards,Fallprotection,Confinedspaces,Emergencyresponse,Measuringequipment,Rigging,Overhead/undergroundcableinstallations,andCDLtraining.2.Providesqualitylearningexperiencesbothintheclassroomandinthehands-onlabsforallstudentsenrolledwhilemaintainingtheintegrityofthecourse'sstandardsandobjectives.3.Statesclearobjectivesandcriteriaforeachcourseinthecoursesyllabus;followstheCurriculumCommittee'sguidelinesregardingcoursesyllabi;integratestheappropriateCollege'slearninggoalsintoeachcourse;evaluatesstudents'performanceandannuallyassessesstudentperformanceinlightoftheseobjectivesandcriteria.4.Teachescoursesinavarietyofenvironmentsandmodes.ExamplesincludeteachingintheeveningandweekendsinRockSprings;developingandteachingcustomizedshortcoursestailoredtotheneedsoflocalindustry;teachinginthestandardclassroom,labandthroughalternativemethods,suchasinternet,oracombinationofthesemethods.5.Advisesstudentsclearlyandeffectively;learnstherequirementsforWesterngraduationandfortransfertootherregionalcollegesanduniversities.UpdatestheadvisinginformationintheWesternAdvisingHandbookrelatedtohis/hercurriculaattheUniversityofWyomingandotherregionaluniversities.6.RecommendscourseschedulestotheSchoolChair;recruitsandmentorsadjunctinstructorsasassigned;preparesandupdatescourseoutlines;recommendsnewcoursesasneeded.7.Designsandimplementseffectivelearningprocessesforstudents;providesfeedbackonstudentimprovementinattainingtheWesternGoalsforStudentSuccess.8.Developseffectiveworkingrelationshipswithcolleagues.Servesasaresourcetothecommunitybybeingwillingtospeaktogroups,answerspecificinquiries,assistwithresearchprojectsandworkshops,locateinformationandperformotherrelatedtasks.9.DevelopsgoodworkingrelationshipswithprofessionalsintheCollege'sserviceareainordertosolicitcooperationandadvisesregardingcurricularplanning,newtrainingopportunities,andotherrelatedinformationtokeeptheprogramcurrentandmeetinglocalneeds.Organizesandconductsannualand/orsemi-annualadvisorycouncilswithindustrypartnerstomaintainanddevelopcurriculumneedsintheindustry.10.CollaborateswiththeSchoolofManufacturing&IndustrialTechnologyChair,theDeanofOutreachandWorkforceDevelopment,andtheDirectorofWorkforceDevelopmenttodesigncoursesortrainingthatmeetstheneedsoflocalindustry;meetswithtrainingdirectorsorothersfromlocalpowerindustry,respondingpromptlytoinquiriesbyphoneore-mail,andaccompanyingtheDirectorofWorkforceDevelopment,attimes,onvisitstolocalpowerlineoperations.11.Recruitstraditional-agedstudentsbycooperatingwiththeDirectorofAdmissions,developingrelationshipswithhighschoolinstructors,visitingareahighschools,encouragingstudentstoattendWestern,andpromotingthevalueoftheCollege'stechnicalprograms.VisitsindustrysitestorecruitadultstudentstoWestern'stechnicalprograms.12.Meetswithlocalpowerindustriesbothtoidentifytheirtrainingneedsandtoupdatethepowerlinecurriculum.13.Maintainsandrepairslab/educationtrainingequipmentandfacilities;designsandbuildstrainingmodelsasnecessary.14.Maintainsareasonablescheduleofofficehoursthatallowson-campusanddistanceeducationstudentstointeractandaskquestionsandthatprovidedtimetointeractwithcolleagues,andcompleteotherduties.15.ParticipatesactivelyintheCollege'sAssessmentProgram,includingProgramReview.Minimum Qualifications:
