INSTRUCTOROFPOWERLINETECHNOLOGYPRIMARYDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES1.ProvidesqualityinstructiontostudentsinassignedcoursesinElectricpowerprinciples,Lineworkersafety,Industrystandards,Fallprotection,Confinedspaces,Emergencyresponse,Measuringequipment,Rigging,Overhead/undergroundcableinstallations,andCDLtraining.2.Providesqualitylearningexperiencesbothintheclassroomandinthehands-onlabsforallstudentsenrolledwhilemaintainingtheintegrityofthecourse'sstandardsandobjectives.3.Statesclearobjectivesandcriteriaforeachcourseinthecoursesyllabus;followstheCurriculumCommittee'sguidelinesregardingcoursesyllabi;integratestheappropriateCollege'slearninggoalsintoeachcourse;evaluatesstudents'performanceandannuallyassessesstudentperformanceinlightoftheseobjectivesandcriteria.4.Teachescoursesinavarietyofenvironmentsandmodes.ExamplesincludeteachingintheeveningandweekendsinRockSprings;developingandteachingcustomizedshortcoursestailoredtotheneedsoflocalindustry;teachinginthestandardclassroom,labandthroughalternativemethods,suchasinternet,oracombinationofthesemethods.5.Advisesstudentsclearlyandeffectively;learnstherequirementsforWesterngraduationandfortransfertootherregionalcollegesanduniversities.UpdatestheadvisinginformationintheWesternAdvisingHandbookrelatedtohis/hercurriculaattheUniversityofWyomingandotherregionaluniversities.6.RecommendscourseschedulestotheSchoolChair;recruitsandmentorsadjunctinstructorsasassigned;preparesandupdatescourseoutlines;recommendsnewcoursesasneeded.7.Designsandimplementseffectivelearningprocessesforstudents;providesfeedbackonstudentimprovementinattainingtheWesternGoalsforStudentSuccess.8.Developseffectiveworkingrelationshipswithcolleagues.Servesasaresourcetothecommunitybybeingwillingtospeaktogroups,answerspecificinquiries,assistwithresearchprojectsandworkshops,locateinformationandperformotherrelatedtasks.9.DevelopsgoodworkingrelationshipswithprofessionalsintheCollege'sserviceareainordertosolicitcooperationandadvisesregardingcurricularplanning,newtrainingopportunities,andotherrelatedinformationtokeeptheprogramcurrentandmeetinglocalneeds.Organizesandconductsannualand/orsemi-annualadvisorycouncilswithindustrypartnerstomaintainanddevelopcurriculumneedsintheindustry.10.CollaborateswiththeSchoolofManufacturing&IndustrialTechnologyChair,theDeanofOutreachandWorkforceDevelopment,andtheDirectorofWorkforceDevelopmenttodesigncoursesortrainingthatmeetstheneedsoflocalindustry;meetswithtrainingdirectorsorothersfromlocalpowerindustry,respondingpromptlytoinquiriesbyphoneore-mail,andaccompanyingtheDirectorofWorkforceDevelopment,attimes,onvisitstolocalpowerlineoperations.11.Recruitstraditional-agedstudentsbycooperatingwiththeDirectorofAdmissions,developingrelationshipswithhighschoolinstructors,visitingareahighschools,encouragingstudentstoattendWestern,andpromotingthevalueoftheCollege'stechnicalprograms.VisitsindustrysitestorecruitadultstudentstoWestern'stechnicalprograms.12.Meetswithlocalpowerindustriesbothtoidentifytheirtrainingneedsandtoupdatethepowerlinecurriculum.13.Maintainsandrepairslab/educationtrainingequipmentandfacilities;designsandbuildstrainingmodelsasnecessary.14.Maintainsareasonablescheduleofofficehoursthatallowson-campusanddistanceeducationstudentstointeractandaskquestionsandthatprovidedtimetointeractwithcolleagues,andcompleteotherduties.15.ParticipatesactivelyintheCollege'sAssessmentProgram,includingProgramReview.Minimum Qualifications: INSTRUCTOROFPOWERLINETECHNOLOGYMINIMUMQUALIFICATIONSAcademicCredentials:•JourneymanUtilityLinemanlicenseandfour(4)yearsofprofessionalexperiencewithpowerlineoperationsorpowerlinetechnologies.RelatedDegrees:•Electricalengineering,Substation,Powerline EquivalentExperience:•Associate'sdegreeinpowerlinetechnologyandfour(4)yearsofprofessionalexperiencewithpowerlineoperationsorpowerlinetechnologies.OR•Nodegreebuthaseight(8)yearsofprofessionalexperiencewithpowerlineoperationsorpowerlinetechnologies.1.Abilitytoestablishandmaintaineffectiveworkingrelationshipswithstudents,colleagues,localindustry,andadministrators.2.Abilitytoexercisesoundjudgmentinallfacetsofthestudent-teacherrelationshipandtoteachadiversegroupofcommunitycollegestudents.3.Demonstratedeffectiveverbalandwrittencommunicationskills.4.Evidenceofcontinuedprofessionaldevelopment.EquivalencyStatement Forthosewhodonotexactlymeetalltheminimumqualifications,anequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperiencewhichhasprovidedcomparableknowledgeandabilitiesmaybeacceptable.Preferred Qualifications: PREFERREDADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS(EducationExperience,Knowledge,andAbilities)1.GraduationfromaregionallyaccreditedcollegeoruniversitywithaBachelor'sdegreeinElectricalEngineering,ComputerEngineering,EngineeringTechnology,orrelatedfield.2.Experienceteachingatacommunitycollege.3.Activeparticipationinrelevantprofessionalorganizations.Open Date:02/18/2026Close Date:Open Until Filled:YesSpecial Instructions to Applicants: Unofficial transcripts are accepted for application purposes.
