Position Summary: SUNY Upstate is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (RNED) to support the Adult Emergency Department on a temporary assignment. This role requires a clinically strong RN capable of providing high quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced emergency setting, caring for both adult and pediatric patients. Candidates should be comfortable working with minimal orientation and supervision. This is a temporary assignment from March 2026-July 2026 Shift & Schedule: - Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift) - Schedule Requirements: o Every other weekend o Some holidays Key Responsibilities: - Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department, including adult and pediatric populations - Perform accurate and timely nursing assessments in a high acuity emergency care environment - Deliver safe, effective patient care with minimal supervision following orientation - Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members - Respond appropriately to trauma and emergency situations, including Level I or Level II trauma cases - Administer medications, treatments, and interventions in accordance with clinical protocols - Maintain accurate and thorough documentation within the EPIC Electronic Medical Record system - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team members - Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards Required Qualifications: - Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing - BLS certification (must be current and maintain recertification eligibility) - Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience (within the past 2 years) in an acute care hospital of similar size and acuity - Demonstrated ability to perform the majority of ED patient care skills independently - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and criticalthinking skills - Legal authorization to work in the United States - Successful completion of preemployment health clearance Preferred Qualifications: - Experience caring for both adult and pediatric emergency patients - Level I or Level II trauma center experience - Experience using EPIC Electronic Medical Records - Prior experience in hospitals of equal or greater size and acuity (required for traveler consideration) Compliance & Screening Requirements: - Must not have had a professional license or certification suspended or under investigation - Must not have been named as a defendant in a professional liability claim - All candidates are subject to drug screening and criminal background checks in accordance with contractual requirements Assignment Details: - Location: SUNY Upstate – Adult Emergency Department - Employment Type: Temporary / Contract - Duration: Approximately 3 months Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 1 - 3 years Salary: $81 Hourly Bonus/Commission: No
