Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist

Seeking a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist for a PRN position 2 weekday days a week in an outpatient setting at Fulton County Health Center (FCHC). *Job Summary:* Responsible for patient evaluation, treatment plan, and follow through of specific treatment programs within the scope of speech/language pathologist practice, as prescribed by the attending physician and based on the diagnosis, history, experience, and goals of the client. *Essential Functions:* * Evaluates patient, through detailed chart review and gathering of information, both objective and subjective, and formulates an individualized treatment plan based on analysis of data, physician order, and patient goals. * Assesses patient/family educational needs, as well as their ability and readiness to learn, noting any barriers to learning, copying and developing educational materials as needed. * Develops and individualized therapy plan of care for each patient, which may include but not be limited to communicative and swallowing means, such as oral motor strengthening, receptive and expressive language therapy, cognitive intervention, instruction for safe diet consistency management. * Abides strictly by hospital, company, and/or departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. * Maintains timely and accurate patient records and reports. * Remains focused on primary goal for optimal patient care, as well as on the importance of optimizing productivity as it pertains to business operations. * Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care. * The above statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified, and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the position. *Qualifications/Skills:* * Must have good oral and written communication skills, as well as clear, distinct dictation skills. * Must be computer literate with good written/typed communication skills for optimal and justifiable documentation for the referring providers and insurance companies alike. * Must be competent in performing speech, language, swallowing and cognitive assessments, designing treatment plans, and performing appropriate treatment and procedures. * Must have strong customer service and organizational skills, as well as sound judgment. * Must be able to determine appropriate intervention strategies and discharges. * Must be able to work independently with clients and with members of the interdisciplinary team. * Must be able to demonstrate safe and appropriate practices with regards to patient care. * Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. *Education/ Experience Requirements:* * Master’s Degree of Art or Education from an accredited university. * National certification by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association and current Licensure in in the State(s) of practice. * May also meet educational requirements for certification and be accepted in a Clinical Fellowship year program with a conditional License in the State(s) of practice. * One to two years previous experience preferred. *Working Conditions:* * Able to engage in activity that may involve lifting equipment used in patient care, etc. * Requires lifting, positioning and transferring patients. * May require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. * Potential for exposure to infectious diseases and human waste products.
