Utility Construction LaborerSalary Range is $22.00 - $26.67 per hour DOEMPM Construction is seeking a dependable Utility Construction Laborer to join our growing team. The Utility Construction Laborer position is a seasonal position that assists underground construction crews with the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground telecommunications and power systems. The Utility Construction Laborer will follow safety regulations and be able to take instructions. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess the ability to positively interact with the public and staff in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, while remaining calm, focused, resourceful and efficient.Essential Job Functions:Assisting underground construction crews install cable and conduitExposing existing underground utilitiesDigging trenches and holes using hand tools (shovels, etc.)Assist with traffic control setupEnsures sites are kept clean and safeMaintains current industry knowledge by utilizing various resources and attending trainingWorks with safety awareness of the considerable hazards related to construction and maintenanceUses protective equipment and safety practices and procedures.Regular, reliable, consistent and punctual attendance is requiredResponsible for duties as described in the general summary and any/all other duties as assigned by manager and/or supervisorQualifications:Basic knowledge of construction industryBasic writing skills to accurately complete reports and other paperworkAbility to communicate with co-workers, customers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous mannerAbility to pay close attention to detailAbility to work independently and make sound decisions using information at handAbility to effectively function as a team playerAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to perform duties in a safe, professional mannerHighly motivated and a self-starter with willingness to learnMust be at least 18 years of agePossess Driver's License. A valid and clear driving record required.Education and Experience:A high school Diploma/GED. General laborer experience preferred. Will train the right candidate.Hours and Travel: This work week for this position is 40+ hours per week. This position is a local position. No overnight travel is required.
