Administrative Division ReceptionistThe Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB) is seeking a diverse pool of qualified applicants for the position of Receptionist within the Administrative Division. The LCB is a nonpartisan legislative service agency that provides professional, technical and administrative support to the Nevada Legislature, which convenes biennially in odd-numbered years for 120-day sessions and for rare special sessions during the interim periods. The Administrative Division provides administrative services and support to the other divisions of the LCB and the Legislature. This is a full-time position located in Las Vegas, Nevada.Under the general supervision of the Administrative Services Supervisor, the Receptionist will perform a broad range of professional level administrative support functions, including overseeing front desk operations and responding to inquiries from legislators, legislative and LCB staff and the public. Responsibilities of the Receptionist may include, without limitation:Maintaining a professional and welcoming reception area for legislators, officials and guests, ensuring a positive first point of contact for all visitors;Greeting visitors, answering and screening incoming calls and directing inquiries and individuals to the appropriate offices or staff members;Responding to information requests from legislators, legislative staff, state agencies and the public with accuracy, courtesy and adherence to established protocols;Providing up-to-date legislative information regarding scheduled hearings, meeting locations and related procedural details;Coordinating the scheduling and reserving of meeting rooms and conference spaces for legislators, state agencies and staff in a timely and organized manner;Posting, updating and maintaining meeting agendas in accordance with statutory and procedural requirements;Receiving, sorting and distributing incoming mail for legislators and staff, ensuring timely and accurate delivery;Providing clerical support to legislators, including photocopying, sorting, printing and preparing documents and materials, as needed;Upholding strict confidentiality and exercising discretion when handling sensitive communications, documents and interactions;Assisting with legislative meetings and hearings by supporting logistical and administrative needs;Providing cross-functional support within the Administrative Division by performing general clerical tasks, gift shop oversight and other division functions, as needed; andPerforming other duties as assigned.The Receptionist will be selected with special preference given to the candidate's training, experience and aptitude in the field of administrative and clerical support. A qualified candidate must have: (1) a valid driver's license; (2) a high school diploma/GED; and (3) at least 6 months of experience providing front desk or reception support in a professional environment. A combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements may be considered. At least 1 year of experience in the field of administrative and clerical support is preferred.The ideal candidate will demonstrate:Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills;The ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize tasks;Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when handling official documents, records and meeting materials;A high degree of trustworthiness, sound judgment and professional conduct in all interactions;A clear understanding of confidentiality requirements and the ability to safeguard sensitive legislative documents and communications;The ability to work effectively and maintain composure in a professional setting with legislative staff, legal professionals, executive branch personnel and the public;The capacity to build and maintain productive working relationships with LCB colleagues, elected officials, legislative staff and the public;Proficiency utilizing databases, spreadsheets and other digital tools used to track, organize and manage records;The ability to demonstrate consistent professionalism under deadline-driven conditions and during periods of heightened legislative activity; andReliability, punctuality, self-motivation and a strong commitment to providing high-quality service.The annual salary for this position is based on a Grade 30, which has a salary range of $52,200 to $76,608 under the employee/employer paid retirement option. An employer-paid contribution plan is also available with a reduced salary in lieu of an employee contribution. Actual starting salary will be based on experience.The benefits include the accrual of paid annual leave and sick leave, health insurance and membership in the state's retirement plan. Overtime may be required during legislative sessions and certain other periods as necessary to meet the demands of the Legislature.
