General Education Paraprofessional (Gen. Ed., ESE-IRR, MID, AUT GC, VI, HI)
ParaprofessionalAn ESS paraprofessional assists the classroom teacher to provide extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. The paraprofessional job responsibilities range from supplementing regular classroom curriculum to helping individual students.Paraprofessionals are also known as school aides, teacher assistants, instructional aides, one-to-one aides, and personal care assistants.ResponsibilitiesLead students in small group exercises to reinforce instruction and co-teach lesson components as assigned by the teacher.Monitor and supervise students and provide academic, emotional, and physical support as necessary.Assist with preparation of materials for instruction, including the copying/duplicating of materials, construction of display/bulletin boards, learning centers, and manipulatives.Perform necessary clerical tasks as required.Check students in every morning.Collect any parent communication and distribute as directed.Collect and organize any money that is sent in for ice cream, fundraisers, pictures, etc. and send to the school bookkeeper or as directed.Participate in lesson planning sessions and communicate with parents and school officials as directed and required.Maintain the integrity of confidential information related to students and staff.Consistently maintain and provide exceptional customer service and professional practices.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications & Essential DutiesPara 1 - minimum of a High School Diploma or state-approved High School Equivalency (HSE), required.Para 2 - minimum of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college credit above the remedial level from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution with the grade of "C" or higher.Georgia Paraprofessional License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).Possess and exhibit the ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.Possess and exhibit exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.Abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
