This role requires an adaptable educator who can transition seamlessly between teaching different disciplines including the following possible areas:Physical EducationCredit RecoveryIn-School SuspensionLeadershipWe seek an educator dedicated to encouraging a culture of "Everyone Learning Every Day."QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess and maintain a proper Missouri teaching certificate in Physical Education or related fieldPass all background checks and screeningsGENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Faculty / Support Staff ExpectationsREPORTS TO: Middle School PrincipalESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Administer physical education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectivesDevelop and implement lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and the needs of all studentsOversee students using digital learning platforms to recover lost credits for graduation.Provide one-on-one tutoring and clarify concepts across multiple core subjects (English, Math, Science, Social Studies).Maintain a safe environment in the gym and outdoor facilities; ensure proper use and storage of athletic equipmentMaintain excellent classroom management for students serving behaviorally consequencesCollaborate with classroom teachers to ensure ISS students receive and complete their regular academic work.Facilitate conversations or character-building exercises to help students succeed in regular classroomsContinue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting researchOrganize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable lawsEncourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parentsEnsure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroomCollaborate with other teachers, school staff, and administrators to enhance the educational experienceSelect and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintain inventory recordsADDITIONAL DUTIES:Performs other related tasks as assigned by the High School Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:9 month contract (179 days)Salary Schedule - commensurate with education and experienceBenefits include Board paid health insurance, paid sick leave, retirement and otherEVALUATION:
