Graduate Automation Engineer

OverviewA growing Colorado Springs-based automation company specializing in advanced motion control and plant automation systems is looking for a graduate PLC/Automation Engineer to join it’s team. Ideal for a recent or soon-to-be graduate in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field looking to build a career in industrial automation and controls.You’ll be joining a small, close-knit automation team during an early growth phase, working alongside experienced controls professionals on advanced automation and custom machinery projects.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram, troubleshoot, and modify PLC and HMI systemsBuild, wire, and troubleshoot industrial control panelsConfigure VFDs, servo drives, motion systems, and industrial networksSupport machine startup, commissioning, and field installationsDiagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and communication issuesMaintain accurate documentation and as-built updatesEnsure clean, organized, and high-quality panel and wiring standards.Required QualificationsDegree or technical background in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.Basic understanding of electrical systems, control wiring, and troubleshooting.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and panel layouts.Exposure to PLC platforms such as Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider.Familiarity with industrial communication networks such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, or EtherCat.Understanding of VFDs, motor control systems, and industrial fundamentals.Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn in an industrial environment
