Mechanical/Simulation Engineer
As a Mechanical Simulation Engineer, you will become the SME for creating virtual models of real-world systems and processes using specialized simulation software. You will replicate how a system behaves, test “what-if” scenarios, and evaluate different configurations and layout options to find the most effective and efficient setup.
If advanced analysis work with real operating equipment is your strength, this role is for you! We are seeking an engineer with a degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering who understands pipe stress, finite element analysis, computation fluid dynamics, and real-world industrial systems; someone who enjoys digging into loads, failures, and complex mechanical behavior, not just drafting. Familiarity with material handling, building ventilation, dust collection systems and/or power transmission would be very helpful in this role.
Responsibilities
Create virtual models of physical systems or processes to test, analyze and optimize performance using software, physics based modeling, and algorithms
Perform pipe stress analysis on industrial piping systems
Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate mechanical, thermal, and fluid-induced loads
Verify that equipment, piping, and supports can safely handle operating conditions
Investigate equipment and system failures, identify root causes, and recommend improvements
Size and specify process equipment, piping, and supports
Prepare clear analysis reports and calculation packages for clients
Act as a technical interface between clients, vendors, and internal teams
Qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with 4+ years of working experience in a similar role
Strong, hands‑on experience with pipe stress analysis and FEA software
Background in industrial, manufacturing or process environments
Ability to translate analysis results into practical design decisions
Comfortable communicating technical findings to clients and vendors
Experience with any of the following: Autodesk Inventor Nastran, Autodesk CFD, Pipe Stress Analysis software with AutoPipe, CAEpipe or Cesar II
Ability to learn and use various software for design, analysis, simulations and calculations
Legally authorized to work in the United States for any US employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with material handling, building ventilation, dust collection systems and/or power transmission
This position will be located at our Dayton based HQ. The role can be hybrid, but you must live within 50 miles of Dayton, Ohio. No corp to corp and no sponsorship.
AMG is a minority owned and operated business with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
