This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.Salary: $50,000 per year, with benefitsDepartment: History, Humanities, & LanguagesJob Description:The Department of History, Humanities, & Languages at the University of Houston-Downtown is seeking applicants for a Lecturer position beginning August 2026. This is a one-year, non-tenure track position that will entail teaching 15 semester credit hours (five classes) per semester for our department, as well as minimal departmental service.Qualifications:The candidate must have at least an M.A. in Philosophy, while a Ph.D. degree is preferredA strong record of teaching undergraduate courses in PhilosophyAbility to teach at least two of our three General Education classes: Intro to Philosophy, Contemporary Ethical Issues, The Meaning of LifeAbility to teach both face-to-face and online asynchronous modalities.Required Attachments by CandidateCurrent curriculum vitaeCover letter that speaks to the required and preferred qualificationsA statement of teaching philosophy emphasizing instructional strategies and student engagementApplicants are not required to submit reference letters with the initial application.
