engineering effortsCollaborate with data center technical & operations team in setting standards and improving data center efficiency and operationsData Center Engineering, Design & RetrofitProvide technical design of electrical systems for retrofitsPrepare electrical design criteria, conceptual design documents, and specifications for retrofitsPrepare technical support for cost analysis and business cases for electrical retrofits & improvementsReview electrical system test scripts, procedures, & results and participate in commissioning activities (as required)Travel to data center sites to oversee electrical retrofits & refreshesData Center Engineering, Technical OperationsAssist in managing relationships with data center service providers, consultants, contractors, manufacturers and suppliersDrive technical operations innovation and efficiency within Uber's data centersCollaborate with the on-site data center operation teams to improve workflow efficiency for data hall electrical systemsCollaborate with internal teams to develop technical operations standards for electrical systemsReview with partner teams to ensure continued service delivery during electrical data hall retrofits and preventive maintenancesReview electrical operation configurations for compliance with SLAsDevelopment and execution of electrical preventive maintenancesProvide communication to internal and external teams about electrical system operation and limitations, as well as scheduled activities and maintenancesDevelopment and continuous improvement of MOPs, SOPs, Change Management requests, investigations and discussionsTravel to data center sites for system audits, engineering studies, and as-built updates Basic QualificationsGeneralB.S. in electrical or architectural engineering degreeMinimum 8 years of professional experience in data center design, construction and operations (PE is preferred)Travel to data center sites (25% to 50%)TechnicalDeep Domain ExperiencePower Distribution: Three-phase, conditioning, and distribution from utility to chipUnderstanding of mission critical power distribution, UPS, PDU and various data center electrical topologiesMedium and low voltage design and distributionUnderstanding of electrical design and operational changes with varying rack power densityKnowledge of industry standards, NEC, building codes, energy codes, and life safety fire alarm standards (e.g. NFPA)Fire protection (e.g. fire alarm) conceptual design, layout and distributionEntry Level Domain ExperienceCooling: Theory, methods and efficiency ~~, For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $180,000 per year - USD $200,000 per year.For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $180,000 per year - USD $200,000 per year.For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
